Pets in your home

All requests around pets will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This helps our Neighbourhood Services Managers by ensuring they have all the right information when considering a request.

On this page you will find some of the general guides that our team will follow.

  • Houses: Any household pets permitted; up to a maximum of 2.
  • Apartments with direct access to the outdoors: Any household pets permitted; up to a maximum of 2.
  • Apartments without direct access to the outdoors, i.e through a communal area: No dogs. Other pets, including house cats, permitted; up to a maximum of 2.

*Working animals (where registration documents can be provided) are allowed in all circumstances.

Your responsibilities

It is your responsibility to control your pets when Great Places colleagues are visiting or working in your home.

For the safety of both your pet and our colleagues, we ask that your animals are in a secure space when our colleagues come to your home. For example, this may be in a safe room with a closed door, in a fastened crate or tank or looked after by a neighbour, family member or friend. If you have any queries, please ask when you are arranging an appointment.

Further information

Dogs living in apartments with a communal entrance since before August 24, will be permitted to remain as long as they don’t cause a nuisance. Any nuisance complaints about any pets will be investigated and permission to keep a pet may be revoked.

The above terms will be applied to all our general needs and mixed tenure properties. We do have some properties where we need to apply a different policy and approach for various reasons. If your property is one of these, please contact us.
