Carbon Literacy is an internationally recognised climate change awareness and action based training qualification. It is a response to the global climate emergency, giving delegates the knowledge and motivation to undertake a significant change in how we live, work and behave.
Great Places Housing is one of the pioneer organisations to roll it out as a requirement for all staff and we are also one of the first to develop and deliver the training to external businesses. To date, over 14,000 individuals have been certified from over 1000 organisations, across 10 countries, a significant proportion of these having completed a Great Places training course.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Great Places’ carbon literacy offer to anyone looking to build knowledge and awareness of climate change in their teams.”
– Brian Robson, Executive Director at Northern Housing Consortium
Each course is adapted to its audience and must undergo a criteria checker, approved by The Carbon Literacy Project who ensure the course meets the standards’ requirement. It is an interactive day’s worth of learning and comprises climate change science, impacts of climate change, current policy, solutions and most importantly, action setting.

"We were pleased to work with Great Places on Carbon Literacy training for the Northern Housing Consortium team. Andy took time to understand our needs and developed an interactive online programme that delivered all the content in manageable sessions that held everyone's attention. I'm confident that the experience will lead to ongoing reductions in our carbon footprint - at work and at home. "
