Great Places recently held an Health and Wellbeing event in Mill Hill, Blackburn, to promote physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

Great Places were joined by the More Positive Together (MPT) team and other organisations including the Billy Project, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s wellbeing services and Re:fresh and Blackburn College.

There was also a pop-up bike shop which gave away a limited children’s and adult refurbished bikes to promote physical activity as well as a host of other partners from the area promoting their wellbeing services.

Great Places and MPT also organised a healthy eating cooking demonstration to give people the skills and recipe ideas to batch cook to help them cook nutritious meals on a budget.

Great Places also had a member of the Financial Resilience team to talk about universal credit and benefits and the MPT Employability Coach was able to help people with work opportunities.

And to help people to batch cook, the MPT team handed out a limited number of slow cookers to people who took part in the demonstration.

Aateeka Bashir, Great Places’ Community Partnership Manager, said: “It was a great event and it was lovely to see so many people and so many Great Places customers coming along.

“We were able to speak to a lot of people and hopefully signpost them to services that will help them combat the current cost of living crisis and make them more financially resilient.”
