Remaining vigilant when dealing with your banking details is important to ensuring that you don’t become a victim of fraud. As part of the Tenant Satisfaction Measures to assess how we are doing, our partner, TLF, have been contacting some of our customers to ask you to share your views on a number of services Great Places provide. TLF will be continuing to do this in the future, but please remember that TLF will never ask for your bank details and will only ever call at sociable times. None of our partners will ever ask for your bank details, so please let us know if you suspect that the person you are speaking to, is not who they say they are, by contacting the Customer Hub.
Below are some important tips to help you make sure your accounts don’t fall foul of fraudsters:
Banking Safety Tips
- Regularly check your bank statements – This is really important and can easily be done online or via a banking app. If you notice an unfamiliar transaction, tell your bank immediately to get the card blocked. Most banks have a dedicated fraud action line, where you can report the theft and request a refund.
- Never share your bank details with third parties, including your log-in details for online banking
- If a caller claims to be phoning from your bank and you feel unsure, hang up and call them back on the official number
- Only ever go into online banking via the official website or app. Never click an unfamiliar link in an email. Also think carefully before you download any attachments
- If money is taken from your account also alert the police. You should also report the crime to the police through Action Fraud. They’ll log it and give you a crime reference number.
