Young people in Knutsford would like to see more provision for youth activities and support for young carers according to the findings of a survey organised by our Community Investment Team.
The survey of young people between 5 and 19 ran earlier this year in collaboration with Knutsford Town Council and Cheshire East Youth Support Service looked to get their views on what changes they’d like to see.
Key findings revealed that a large number of young people surveyed would like to see the development of more accessible youth activities in the town including, cooking, arts and crafts and performing arts activities, team sports and gym facilities. In addition the survey revealed the need for more support for young carers, along with better mental health support for young people.
The feedback collected will be instrumental in shaping and co-designing future youth services in the area.
Commenting on the results Rebecca Banks, Our Community Partnership Manager for the Longridge area in Knutsford, said:
The feedback collected from this survey has provided some invaluable insights.
Young people in the town have spoken clearly: they want more accessible youth activities, and better support for young carers and improved access to mental health services.
These findings have already helped inform a programme of activities Great Places is looking to run during the school holidays. They will also play a pivotal role in helping us and our partners in shaping and co-designing future youth services in the community.
Adam Keppel-Green, Town Clerk at Knutsford Town Council, added:
Understanding what our younger residents would like to see in Knutsford is really important to us, so we’re grateful to everyone who took the time to share their views and will now work with partners to identify what we can bring forward.
Kelly Prince , from Cheshire East Youth Support Service, said:
It has been a great opportunity to work with partners to capture the voice of young people. We will continue to support the community to increase sustainable provision in the area where possible.
