Great Places and Kellen Homes have joined forces to bring forward a neighbourhood of new houses for the people of East Manchester, almost half of which will be affordable homes.
Working in partnership with Kellen Homes we have submitted a planning application for 498 new homes on the former Riverpark Trading Estate in East Manchester. The scheme will create 221, two, three and four-bedroom houses and 277 apartments including a number of specially adapted homes. The application follows an extensive public consultation in November 2024 and the plans submitted reflect changes made to the scheme in response to the community feedback. The proposal includes apartment buildings ranging from four to six stories in height, along with the addition of a cycle lane on Riverpark Road and improved connectivity to Philips Park.
Commenting on the proposed plans Nick Gornall, our Director of Development, said:
We’re delighted to be partnering with Kellen Homes on this transformative project. The proposals reflect the time, care, and attention we’ve invested in design and include the public consultation feedback that has significantly shaped the final design.
Riverpark supports the wider strategic proposals of Manchester City Councils Eastlands Regeneration Framework, transforming the former brownfield site into 498 much-needed homes, nearly half of which will be affordable.
The proposals for the mixed-tenure development of houses, apartments, and adaptable homes reflect our commitment to creating a vibrant and sustainable community which will have a positive impact on East Manchester. With clearance and demolition already underway, we are looking forward to the start of new home construction following the determination of the planning application.
Kellen Homes’ Chief Executive Ian Kelley, added:
We are pleased to once again partner with Great Places Housing Group and bring forward this new plan for a vibrant and sustainable community which will provide much-needed homes for the people of East Manchester.
