Councillor Graham Greenhalgh, the Mayor of Stockport, was the guest of honour at festive celebrations to mark the completion of a £1 million improvement works project at our Clifford Court development in Heaviley.

Councillor Greenhalgh was joined by Councillor Colin McAllister, Cabinet Member for Housing, and local Ward Councillor, Helen Hibbert at the scheme of 87 flats. The group was met by our Chief Executive, Matthew Harrison, and members of the project team and given a tour of the recently renovated scheme spread across 10 blocks that provides both sheltered and rented accommodation. The group also had the opportunity to meet with customers at the scheme and hear carols from Year 6 pupils from the local Great Moor Junior School who were asked to perform to mark the occasion.

Built originally in 1971, our Clifford Court scheme has undergone significant improvement works as part of the year-long project including major internal and external communal refurbishments, such as new floor coverings in each block, new meter over boxes, decoration, lighting, and new block entrance doors. Communal areas in the sheltered block at the scheme were also updated to include a new open plan kitchen and an enlarged lounge.

Other improvements include a new patio, staff office and WC, new heating, suspended ceilings, fire doors and modernised staircases with glass panels. External improvements to the scheme have included new external lighting, signage, car park bays, bin storage, fencing and restored boundary walls.

Commenting on the visit, Councillor Greenhalgh said:

I’m delighted to see the fantastic improvements that have been made to Clifford Court. The work that has been done here is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the project.

Matthew Harrison, our Chief Executive, added:

We’re delighted to welcome Councillor Greenhalgh, Councillor McAllister, and Councillor Hibbert to Clifford Court and show them the fantastic improvements we have made to the scheme.

This project is a great example of our ongoing commitment to invest in our existing homes.  As a member of the Stockport Housing Partnership, we will continue to invest in our neighbourhoods and provide good quality accommodation for our customers across the borough.

We’re very proud of the work we have done here and the positive feedback we have received from the residents and the local community. We’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in this project, especially our contractors TJM projects, and our customers for their patience and cooperation throughout the process.
