Great Places’ £2000 donation to HIS Provision in Blackpool is being used to help people across the town.

The organisation, which has centres on Raikes Parade and Central Drive, has put the money towards running their incredible range of services, which provides food, clothes, furniture and other amenities.

HIS Provision has just celebrated its 10-year anniversary and is helping around 300 people a week through its centres including its mobile shop which visits five centres across Blackpool, which will soon be extended to seven and its delivery service for elderly and disabled residents.

Director Jackie Kemp said: “We were very grateful to Great Places for their donation as it helps to keep the services going.

“We want to help people with dignity and all the money we make from our sales, goes back into the community to help toward the costs of food parcels where clients pay £5 for £20 worth of food, free family meals, community hub, laundry facilities etc.

“The bus has proved to be very popular and, thanks to our partnership with National Literacy Trust, we will be introducing books so that children can enjoy reading with parents.

“We have a fantastic network of organisations who support us so that we can provide people in need with items ranging from school uniform and underwear to starter packs for families who have nothing to be able to set up their home.

“We have around 30 volunteers, so we are able to help people across Blackpool, which is incredibly important given what is happening in the world at the moment.”

Rosie Longden, Head of Community Investment, said: “The dedicated volunteers at the HIS Provision provide an incredible service to a lot of people and that’s why we were delighted to support them.

“They are able to source so many much-needed items its incredible, so we are delighted to be able to help them with their range of services.”
