Our customers in Wybourn enjoyed a family-friendly Coronation Fun Day at the Pat Midgley Hub on Saturday, thanks to our Greater Together Coronation Fund.

This family event was one of over 60 events supported by the fund, kindly provided to us by our contractors Fortem Solutions, JSB Construction AB, M&R and Emanuel Whittaker.

Customers attending the event were able to mark the Coronation weekend with a range of royal-themed games, crafts and activities for children to enjoy, including face painting and a bouncy castle. A variety of food was on offer as well, from hotdogs, jacket potatoes and Jamaican curry to classic scones with jam and cream.

We developed the Pat Midgley Hub, naming the centre after the late Sheffield councillor in her honour and opening its doors back in August 2022. Since then it has provided the community of Wybourn with a regular space for a range of activities, education courses and support.

Commenting on the event, the Community Centre Co-ordinator, Lauren Coulson, said:

“On Saturday we opened our doors to celebrate the Coronation! We watched the coronation and celebrated with a bouncy castle, a buffet fit for a king and royalty-themed games: ‘Pin the crown on Charles’ and ‘Royal Bingo’ to name a few.

“The day was enjoyed by all who attended. Being a small community facility, funding is key for us to be able to put events like this on, and we couldn’t have done it without the funding given to us by Great Places.”

Commenting on the Greater Together Coronation Fund, our Head of Community Investment, Rosie Longden, said:

“We want to thank our contractors who have helped make all of our community events to mark the King’s Coronation possible through social value. This is at the heart of what we do at Great Places and we’re grateful for this support.”
