Forge New Homes, the partnership between five Sheffield housing providers, has exchanged contracts with Homes England on its second site – the former site of Bolsover Hospital.
The joint venture is preparing plans for 58 new homes on the 6.5-acre site, located on the northern edge of the market town of Bolsover, Derbyshire.
This will be a range of high-quality three and four-bedroom family homes for sale and affordable rent.
The Bolsover site is a significant key milestone for the partnership between five leading housing associations – Great Places Housing Group, the Guinness Partnership, Together Housing, South Yorkshire Housing Association and Yorkshire Housing – that is aiming to address the shortfall in housing in the Sheffield City Region. These housing associations own and manage 150,000 homes across the country.
Andy Beattie, Project Director at Forge New Homes, said:
We’re excited to have exchanged contracts with Homes England and working up our proposals for the site in collaboration with Homes England and Caddick Construction and plan to submit our planning application to Bolsover Council in the summer. This development will provide 58 high-quality much needed new homes in the area”.
I would like to thank the partners and design team for their continued support and hard work that has made this possible
Steve Close, Chief Executive of Together Housing and Chair of Forge New Homes, added:
We’re delighted to announce the exchange with Homes England on the Bolsover Hospital site, another significant step in our work to help address the Sheffield City Region’s housing needs. We’re looking forward to getting on with construction and really making a difference.”
Forge New Homes also remains keen to work in partnership with other public and private sector organisations to participate in project delivery.
Mr Close said:
We would welcome contact and discussions with any public or private sector organisation that can help us to access sites or otherwise help us with the delivery of new homes.
Subject to planning, work is due to start on site in early 2022.
