At Great Places, our mission is to create thriving communities where residents feel supported and valued. We are proud to share a recent success story from our South Neighbourhoods Team and the Tenancy Coach Service in Salford, which underscores our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of our customers.

A heart-warming success in Ordsall

In Ordsall, our team celebrated a significant achievement by assisting one of our customers to transform his living conditions. This resident had been living in a flat overwhelmed with hoarded rubbish and unwanted belongings for a considerable period. Our Neighbourhood team’s intervention has not only improved the physical environment of his home but also significantly enhanced his quality of life.

Central to this success was the extraordinary dedication of Jan Bennett, one of our Tenancy Coaches. Jan’s patience and commitment were instrumental, as she worked on this support case for fourteen months. Despite the customer not meeting the statutory safeguarding threshold for formal Adult Social Care involvement, Jan’s unwavering support and ability to build a trusting relationship with the customer were crucial. Her compassionate trauma informed approach helped guide the customer through the challenging process of clearing his home.

Our strategy involved a collaborative approach. Jan provided consistent, empathetic support, while Aidan Williams, our Neighbourhood Services Manager, focused on ensuring safe living conditions. This dual strategy ensured that the customer understood the importance of maintaining a safe living environment and received the necessary support to achieve it.

We also want to highlight the vital role of Steven Roberts, our Supply Chain Coordinator, who swiftly arranged for a skip to facilitate the removal of the accumulated waste. His prompt action enabled us to efficiently clear the flat, significantly improving the resident’s living conditions.

This achievement is a proof to the power of teamwork and the positive impact of a collaborative approach. The combined efforts of our South Neighbourhoods Team and the Tenancy Sustainment Service have made a significant difference to the life of our resident. By working together, we have demonstrated our commitment to the well-being of our residents and the importance of a supportive community.

We are incredibly proud of the efforts of all colleagues involved. Their hard work and dedication embody the spirit of Great Places and our mission to create great homes in great communities.
