Nearly 13,000 of our customers pay their rent by Direct Debit. If you aren’t one of them, it’s simple to set up and means that your rent payments are made automatically. Once set up, it runs by itself. We’ll give you advance notice of any changes to your payments. Go to our website and we’ll help you set one up.

Worried about paying your charges?

Most rents will go up by 7% from 1 April 2023. We do care. If you’re struggling to pay your rent, remember you can reach out to us. Get in touch with your Neighbourhood Services Manager or Independence and Wellbeing Coordinator. Try our managing your money section to find more help. You may be entitled to welfare benefits and other support available through our work with local food banks, community partners and National Energy Action.

And if you have questions about your rent going up you’ll find answers about everything from how we calculate your rent to being on Universal Credit, from what to do if you’re in arrears to what a service charge means. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions.

Are you claiming Universal Credit?

Did you know your rent is changing from Monday 3 April?

You don’t need to fill out a change of circumstances – this will over complicate things.

Universal Credit will prompt you via your journal after Monday 3 April so that you can advise them of your new rent and service charge.

This is the only time you need to respond about the new rent.

Once you’ve completed your rent change, Universal Credit will tell us at Great Places of your change. We will confirm the changes with you and you will be paid the new rent.

Trying to update Universal Credit before 3 April may mean you being paid the incorrect rent.

Let’s work together so that you get paid correctly.
